I had the honor and pleasure of working with the amazing environment teams at MachineGames and Wushu, during the development of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
.
This scene was brilliant to work on, Emmerich Voss (the primary antagonist) is searching for the Wavebreaker Relic. His team, operating with Italian forces and a corrupt Siamese general, focused on the ruins of Wat Mahathat, the largest temple complex in the area, believing it housed a hidden Nephilim temple. Despite weeks of digging, they failed to find the relic because they missed a concealed entrance. He was digging in the wrong location. Indiana Jones of course finds the correct entrance.
.
The art brief for this area was to show Voss's destruction of one side of the jungle, hastily destroying trees and clearing space for multiple dig sites, while the other side of Wat Mahathat remained untouched and overgrown.
.
I was responsible for taking the area from greybox blockout to final art, combining existing library assets with bespoke items as needed, then, delivered a final polish pass using decals, vertex painting and landscape painting.
